DOJ reaches settlement with ex-FBI ‘lovebirds’ caught in anti-Trump text scandal

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has reached a settlement with Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, two former FBI agents implicated in a scandal involving anti-Trump text messages. Both agents worked on Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation and were allegedly involved in an extramarital affair. They were removed from the investigation in 2017 and later fired after their text messages, many of which were disparaging of Donald Trump, were publicly released. The terms of the settlement were not immediately disclosed. It ends the lawsuits filed by both agents, which alleged that the DOJ violated the Privacy Act by releasing their text messages.
