Boeing sweetens offer to union as strike enters second week
Boeing Co. has enhanced their offer to their union in an attempt to end a strike that has now entered its second week. The details of the improved proposal were not immediately available. However, it is supposed to address the major concern of the union members regarding wage increase, job security, and pension benefits.
The strike has halted the production of aircraft at a time when the company already is dealing with a backlog of orders. It has also impacted smaller suppliers and companies in the aerospace industry since Boeing is a major client.
Boeing’s management and representatives of the union are seemingly on round-the-clock negotiations, trying to put to an end the labor unrest that has so far cost the company a hefty sum of money. The union will review the proposal and will let its members vote on it once the company’s offer is deemed acceptable.
The strike is the latest in a series of labor confrontations that Boeing has suffered over the past years. The company has been trying to implement measures to reduce costs and increase production efficiency, which led to disagreements with its workforce.
Moving forward, Boeing hopes that its sweetened offer will appease its union members and end the strike as soon as possible.
