New Hampshire announces first-in-the-nation presidential primary, defying DNC
On December 19, 2019, the New Hampshire State Senate voted to hold the 2020 presidential primary in New Hampshire on February 11, 2020. The vote was taken as a response to the Democratic National Committee’s decision to strip the state of its traditional first-in-the-nation primary status in response to a calendar reshuffle. The primary is scheduled to take place at the same time as the Iowa caucuses, putting the two states head-to-head in an unprecedented showdown.
