Iowa Gov. Reynolds hits back at Trump as she throws support to DeSantis
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has thrown her support behind Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the upcoming election. In doing so, she hit back at President Donald Trump.
In an interview with the Des Moines Register, Governor Reynolds said she believes that both Trump and DeSantis are working to move the country “in the right direction” but that DeSantis had made a “real impact” in Florida during his time in office.
The governor added, “Although he [DeSantis] may have a terrible relationship with the president, he clearly understands the value of getting things done, and he’s making sure that happens in Florida. I think that’s something to be celebrated.”
This marks an interesting shift for the Iowa governor, who previously has shown unwavering support for the president and his policies. But it’s clear from her words that she believes the state of Florida could benefit greatly from DeSantis’ leadership, even if it means butting heads with Trump in the process.
