Jewish Florida lawmaker breaks from DeSantis and endorses Trump
Florida Representative Ana Maria Rodriguez, a Republican state legislator from Miami-Dade County, has broken with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ refusal to endorse President Donald Trump for a second term and instead has followers to back the President for four more years.
In a post on Facebook, Rodriguez wrote: “Today, it is with great pride and enthusiasm I declare my support and endorsement for President Donald J. Trump’s re-election. Change takes courage, and I’m grateful to be part of this movement to make America great again.”
She went on to describe Trump as a leader who kept his promises to the American people and that his agenda “will continue to benefit the Sunshine State.”
Rodriguez has become the first Jewish Republican elected to the Florida Legislature. Prior to her election, she was the Republican Party’s State Committeewoman in Miami-Dade County. She was subsequently re-elected and is currently serving her second and final term in the House.
